## Ryzen or EPYC?

Ryzen wins on speed per core. EPYC wins when you need many cores, ECC memory or lots of VMs.

### AMD Ryzen (Fastest per core)

Zen 4 and Zen 5, 8 to 16 cores

- **Strength**: Highest clock speed
- **Boost clock**: Up to 5.7 GHz
- **Memory**: 64 to 128 GB DDR5
- **Storage**: 2 × NVMe
- **Best for**: Game servers, web apps, CI builds

from **$97.49**/mo

### AMD EPYC 7402P

Server platform, 24 cores

- **Strength**: Cores, ECC and PCIe lanes
- **Cores / threads**: 24 / 48
- **Memory**: 128 GB ECC
- **Storage**: 2 × 1.92 TB NVMe
- **Best for**: Proxmox, databases, many VMs

**$211.99**/mo

## Which build for which job?

Our recommendations for the most common workloads.

| Workload | Our pick | Why |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Game servers | Ryzen 9 9900X | Zen 5 single-thread speed keeps tick rates stable with many players. |
| Web apps & APIs | Ryzen 7 7700 | Eight fast cores and 64 GB of DDR5 cover most production stacks. |
| CI, builds, compiling | Ryzen 9 7950X | Sixteen cores and 32 threads cut build and test times. |
| Proxmox & many VMs | EPYC 7402P | 24 cores, 128 GB of ECC memory and PCIe lanes to spare. |
| Databases | EPYC 7402P or Ryzen 9 7950X | ECC memory for integrity, or 128 GB of DDR5 for raw speed. |

## AMD servers, answered.

**Another question?** The full FAQ answers what people ask before an order: payments, privacy, complaints and support.

### Do the Ryzen servers have ECC memory?

Our Ryzen builds use standard DDR5. If your workload needs ECC memory, choose the EPYC 7402P or one of the Xeon builds in the [full range](https://offshoreserv.com/offshore-dedicated-servers).

### Which build is best for game servers?

The Ryzen 9 9900X. Most game servers run their main loop on one thread, so clock speed matters more than core count. The Ryzen 7 7700 is a good choice for smaller communities.

### Can I run Proxmox VE?

Yes. Proxmox VE is available as a template when you order, and the EPYC 7402P, with 24 cores and 128 GB of ECC memory, is the natural host for many VMs.

### Can I upgrade memory or storage?

Yes, as a custom build. Once your server is delivered, describe what you need in a ticket from your [client area](https://offshoreserv.com/account/support) and we reply with a price.

### Is there a setup fee?

No, on any build. The monthly price is what you pay, including the first month.
